Dr. Wyland earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at
Chapel Hill. While at UNC he was a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling All-American and national
finalist. In 1990, he was a member of the United States National wrestling team and in 2002 was named
one of the top 50 wrestlers of the past 50 years by the Atlantic Collegiate Conference. After his
undergraduate studies, he attended the UNC School of Medicine where he served as president of the
Whitehead Medical Society (student body). He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke
University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Thereafter, Dr. Wyland completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic
Sports Medicine at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO and expanded his training to include
management of foot and ankle injuries with Dr. Roger Mann and Dr. Richard Ferkel.
Dr. Wyland started his practice in September 2002 at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic Denver in Greenwood
Village, CO. He specializes in sports injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle. He serves as a
team physician for the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team, Chaparral High School in Parker, CO.
and as a consultant for the Vans Triple Crown series of Snowboarding, Skateboarding, and BMX. He is
Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is a member of the American Orthopaedic
Society for Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and the Piedmont
Orthopaedic Society.
